Neyde Lantyer is a Brazilian visual artist working with photography and installations. She is also a concept creator of projects on contemporary art, culture and society. Currently, she lives in Amsterdam-Holland where she takes active role in art organizations and cultural enterprises.
Lantyer was born in Queimadas-Bahia and attended the Escola de Belas Artes da UFBa (Federal University of Bahia), in Salvador. As student and young professional she was a politic activist and worked with vulnerable communities in development programs of the Brazilian government as social worker and human resources professional.
Using a variety of themes related to personal experiences such as relationships, memory and feminism, Neyde Lantyer’s work assembles photographs in installations that eventually encloses other media’s and techniques such as collages, text, objects and video. As an artist living between two countries, her artwork carries the influence of both her background in Brazil and her life in Holland.
Besides being a photographer, she is also a photo editor and a restorer of vintage negatives, teaches contemporary photography and is filming a documentary. She is the artistic director of A Hora do Brasil Foundation and has created the Brazilian Summer Sessions Music Festival that happens every year at Bimhuis, in Amsterdam.
